Get To Know Treighton Mauldin

Treighton’s professional career started in construction management where he worked for a number of large General Contractors on a large variety of projects. After about eight years, he realized that his heart wasn’t in it, and decided to pursue a career in programming. He has now been in web development for about two years, working on projects ranging from simple static sites to more complex web applications with a variety of integrations. He is currently a web developer for Page Design Group in Sacramento, CA.

What inspired you to give this talk at WordCamp?

I was inspired to give a presentation based on a desire to become more active in the local WordPress community, as well as having gone through the process of convincing multiple agencies to adopt a version control process using git to great success.

How did you discover WordPress?

I discovered WordPress early in my professional career as a developer through working as a freelancer to many agencies that primarily used WordPress to build custom websites and applications.

How has WordPress Or WordCamp impacted you?

I have never been to a WordCamp, but WordPress provided me with a great entry point into the development world with room to grow my skills on both the front and backend of a site.

How do you primarily work with WordPress?

I currently work at an agency that uses WordPress for the majority of sites and applications that we build. My role with WordPress is primarily building custom plugins and extending functionality.

What does the WordCamp theme Discovery mean to you?

To me this is very relevant to how I feel as I dig deeper into using WordPress more as a web application framework. Everyday I discover something new that I can make WordPress do to create a better product and experience for our clients.

What is the latest book you read?

Mastering Predictive Analytics with R by Rui Miguel Forte.

What is your favorite restaurant? Favorite menu item?

Buffalo Chicken Sando.

What TV series are you current binging on/into?

Ghost Adventures.

What do you do for fun?

Outside of work i enjoy literature, music, nature, fishing, watching movies, and learning new things.
