What inspired you to give this talk at WordCamp?

I’ve gained so much from the WordPress community over the years I wanted to find a way to give back. When the call for speakers came out I decided I should present an idea and see how it goes. I’ve been doing a lot of work with the Customizer recently so I thought of the best way to present everything that I’ve been learning.

How did you discover WordPress?

I first used WordPress to setup my photography portfolio around 2008. I then went to Squarespace (eh gad!) before returning to WordPress around 2011 to build the website for the photography business that I was starting with my wife. When she went back to school for graphic design I began to teach myself web development with a focus on WordPress.

How has WordPress Or WordCamp impacted you?

WordPress has given me a great opportunity to teach myself web development with a great community learning and creating along with me. It has been instrumental in my own business as well as my fun projects that keep me coding every day.

How do you primarily work with WordPress?

I freelance and build custom themes for small business clients.

What does the WordCamp theme Discovery mean to you?

What is your favorite restaurant? Favorite menu item?

I don’t eat out enough to have a favorite.
